Rachel Leigh Cook is up against Courtney Ford and Nora Zehetner for the younger version of Sally Field and Kay Panabaker is playing the younger version of Calista Flockheart.

Swedish model supports rapper boyfriend at court

A Swedish model left court in Los Angeles yesterday (Wednesday) after listening to closing arguments in her boyfriend's murder trial.

Therese Fischer, 21, sat quietly at the back of the courtroom as lawyers summed up the allegations against Stockholm-born rapper David Jassy.

Jassy, 35, is accused of killing 55-year-old pedestrian John Osnes in a “brutal” attack during a 2008 road rage incident.

Prosecutors claim the music star, who calls himself DJ Monopoly, punched and kicked the jazz pianist before running over his unconscious body and attempting to flee the scene.

Jassy denies the five charges against him.

Jassy and Fischer, a pretty brunette, were on their way home from a nightclub in Hollywood, California, in November 2008 when the incident occurred.

According to Deputy District Attorney Sarika Kapoor, Mr Osnes yelled at the couple and “slapped” the front of their rented SUV after they came close to hitting him on a pedestrian crossing.

The court heard how Jassy then stopped his vehicle, got out of the car and aggressively confronted the 55-year-old before hitting him in the face.

“Mr Osnes was punched so hard his glasses flew off his face,” Ms Kapoor said.

The prosecutor told jurors how the rapper then “walked up to Mr Osnes while he was still bent over and kicked him right in the face”.

“He kicked him with enough force to leave a shoe print on his face and to fracture his skull,” she said.

As Mr Osnes lay unconscious on the ground, Jassy allegedly shouted “f*** you” before getting back in his SUV and driving over the pedestrian's body.

“He drove over his abdominal, his centre section and his torso,” Ms Kapoor said. “This was an impact which cause this person to be turned onto their side.”

Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband in bid to succeed Schwarzenegger as California governor

Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband, Prince Frederic von Anhalt, has launched an independent campaign to succeed Arnold Schwarzenegger as California governor.

Von Anhalt, 66, a Republican, is German born and has no political experience. He gave a news conference in West Hollywood and unveiled a billboard of himself in military-style attire on Sunset Strip as part of a $300,000 bid for office.

Von Anhalt has been critical of Austrian-born Schwarzenegger over travel time out of California and his legacy for the state, calling it a "mess".

"Arnold is going to go, and California needs somebody new. It took always a German to clean out the Austrian mess. That was always the case, and it will happen here also."

Von Anhalt says he is a fiscal conservative who is liberal on social issues, supporting gay marriage, legal marijuana and a broad amnesty for illegal immigrants.

During the aftermath of Anna Nicole Smith's death in 2007, he was briefly linked to her infant daughter as one of several alleged fathers. Von Anhalt claimed to have had a 10-year affair with Smith.

The screen beauty, now married to Ben Affleck, said she was an emotional mess in the wake of her divorce from actor Scott Foley.

She said: "I had a lot of growing up to do. I'm still conflict-averse. I don't like to argue. But back then I couldn't have a fight. I couldn't work things out because I wasn't able to say what I needed to say. I didn't have a voice. I didn't dare to express myself. It was a huge heartbreak for me to have something fail like that. In the papers, Sheen's lawyer, Richard Cummins, requested a change in Sheen's current restraining order, to allow him to speak to Mueller at her hospital bedside.

Cummins wrote: "[Sheen] is concerned and feels the necessity to assist and care for his wife."

Mueller is currently in intensive care in an LA hospital with a reported 105-degree fever, for which she is being treated with antibiotics.

It is believed that the problem relates to oral surgery that Mueller underwent earlier in the week.

The Two And A Half Men star arrived at the LA hospital this morning, despite the restraining order, which states that the parties concerned cannot have direct contact or direct communication, although it does not prohibit them being in the same room.

Mueller's lawyer, Yale Galanter, confirmed that she will be released from hospital today and that he expects the hearing on the restraining order to still go ahead as scheduled this Friday.

Rosie O'Donnell has offered up her two cents to the Late Night Talk Show time slot war.

She said Leno's time is up and he needs to stand aside for Conan O'Brien.

NBC has moved Leno back into its late-night spot after giving O'Brien a short-lived run. O'Brien has stood up to the network, saying he won't be pushed back. O'Donnell also took to her blog to claim Leno "bullied his way back into college" to be quarterback once more.

Taxpayer Becomes Michael Jackson Creditor

A citizen of LA has filed a creditor’s claim against the Michael Jackson estate on behalf of the entire city of Los Angeles. Jose Freddie Vallejos insists that it was illegal for the city officials to underwrite the King of Pop’s memorial last July for $3.3 million and feels that since the memorial only benefited the singer’s estate, it should pay the bill in full. My common sense says that it’s just about right but I doubt that it would actually happen. Heck, not even his kids have gotten any close to his money yet. And considering all the fiscal crap that California is in at the moment, paying for Michael’s funeral is nothing.

Conrad Murray manslaughter charge 'all but certain'

Conrad Murray is highly likely to be charged in the homicide death of Michael Jackson, TMZ reports.

The website claims sources say the criminal charge is "all but certain". TMZ also reports the slow moving multiple agency probe into the sudden death of Jackson last June 25 is making progress.

The Los Angeles Police Department has completed its investigation and will forward findings to the Los Angeles District Attorney within weeks.

The probe into the sudden death for which Jackson's personal physician Murray was present and which has been linked to a toxic and lethal mix of sedatives, most notably propofol Murray gave, was "exhaustive", said one source.

Propofol's status as a non-controlled substance and Murray's legal administration of the IV drug to Jackson - who was said to be dependent on it - are factors complicating the police case, sources noted.

Propofol is a strong sedative most often used for anaesthesia. Murray told authorities Jackson badgered him for propofol, which he called his "milk", and that he had been trying to wean him off the drug before he relented. In doing so, he had given Jackson other IV sedatives.

TMZ said sources believed the charge against Murray was likely to be involuntary manslaughter. Murray recently returned to practise in Texas.

Tiger Woods could be hiding out in Africa

Tiger Woods could be hiding out in Africa as he lies low following his public fall from grace, according to a new report.

No charges for Tyson over airport scuffle

Mike Tyson will not face charges over claims he punched a photographer in an airport scuffle.

Paparazzo Tony Echevarria claimed the former heavyweight boxing champ hit him after he tried to take his picture at Los Angeles International airport last month.

But the Los Angeles City Attorney has ruled there is “insufficient evidence” to pursue the case and say Tyson will not be prosecuted.

Tyson, 43, had been arrested on suspicion of battery last month after an alleged confrontation with 50-year-old Echevarria outside the United terminal at LAX.

The photographer claimed Tyson had struck him once, causing him to fall to the ground. He was treated for a cut to his forehead at hospital.

Tyson claimed Echevarria, who was also arrested on suspicion of battery, had been harassing him, his wife Lakiha Spicer and their daughter Milan.

“Mike acted in self defence as a father protecting his child,” the boxer's spokeswoman said.

The LA City Attorney has also declined to press charges against Echevarria.

Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion ever when he won his title as a 20-year-old. But his life has been marred by accusations of domestic violence, rape and cocaine use.

The boxer was convicted of rape in Indiana in 1992 and served three years in prison. He was disqualified from a 1997 heavyweight title fight when he bit off part of Evander Holyfield's right ear, and in 1999 he pleaded no contest to misdemeanour assault charges in Maryland. In 2003, Tyson filed for Chapter 11 protection in U.S. Bankruptcy Court. He served 24 hours in an Arizona jail in 2007 after pleading guilty to cocaine possession and driving under the influence.
